Courtney Cerruti :: Playing with Image Transfers

I haven’t been this excited about a new book in a long time. It’s called Playing with Image Transfers, and it’s written by extraordinary artist and crafter Courtney Cerruti. Playing with Image Transfers, published by Quarry Books, covers four image transfer methods: packing tape, solvent, medium, and acrylic transfers. The book also includes projects for applying transfers, including gift boxes, albums, sketchbook covers, wall art, accordion books, and much more. Once you’ve played with the techniques, you can use the book to guide you through exploring transfers on wood, fabric, paper, canvas, and book forms. The photos — taken by San Francisco photographer Andrew Paynter — are clear, easy to follow and visually beautiful. The end of the book features a section on some accomplished mixed-media artists who use image transfer prominently in their work.

I’ve already taken the book to my studio and I’m going to start experimenting with some of the techniques this week in my artwork. I’ll keep you posted. For now, some photos from the book to inspire you!

Last but not least, here’s a little video trailer for the book to inspire and delight you!

You can purchase Courtney’s beautiful book here or at your local bookstore. If you are in the Bay Area, Courtney is having a book signing at Rare Device November 9! Have a happy Wednesday!
