My Sister’s House ♥

{a few shots of my sister’s home; bottom left: a mushroom drawing I made & gave to her last year}

Last night my family gathered at my sister’s home for a spaghetti feed and homemade bread. Some of you may know my sister Stephanie from 3191 Miles Apart. She’s an incredibly talented maker, cook, writer, photographer and stylist. I have been coming to visit her SE Portland home since 1999. My sister has innumerable talents, but to me, one of her greatest talents is in creating a cozy and warm living space. When I was younger and going through some particularly difficult times, my sister’s house was the first place I wanted to be. It was the place where I felt the most safe in the world. Through her front door I have always found good food, lots of love and a comfortable place to sit.

You can check out some of my sister’s work — her crafts, photographs, styling and writing (and more images of her home, kids & life) — here on her blog (she’s SCB, and her photos + stories are in the right hand column).

Happy Friday, friends. I’ll be back on Monday with a special year-in-review post and my last 365 Days of Hand Lettering post!
