Remember when I told you my 12 year old niece Mia was coming to stay for two weeks this summer? Well, she’s here! And so far it’s been, well…awesome. While she’s here, she’s attending this amazing program for middle school age kids at CCA during the day (and taking classes in animation, graphic design and drawing). Mia hails from Portland where she lives with my talented sister and her family.
She arrived Saturday, so today we’re on Day 4 of her visit. Mia loves to draw (please note the awesome portrait she made of me above!), read Manga, watch the Olympics (she loves beach volleyball the most), send text messages with her friends at home, hold my cat Margaret, sneak treats to Wilfredo, EAT (she’s 5’7″ and growing rapidly taller still), and play video games on my iPad. She’s also really into exploring San Francisco (which she says is “just like Portland except bigger, and there’s more to do.”).
Clay and I are loving having Mia around — she is so full of love and light, curiosity and humor. Another perk for me besides her warm-hearted, sweet and generous demeanor? She lets me fix her long, beautiful hair every morning.
I love this kid so much, and I am so looking forward to the next 11 days we have left together.
